While walking home, she passed an old lady - 80ish and though upset and engrossed with her thoughts, something told her to slow down and chat with this woman. This elderly though only pulling her little shopping trolley, seemed like she was also pulling the weight of the world as well.
This young girl asked how she was and offered to help her pull the trolley. They walked to the old lady's house and the old lady told her about her elderly husband and how both are ailing but they still have to go about doing the daily chores and shopping. Her children are far away and hardly come to visit.
They reach the door and the young girl unconsciously offered to come back the next day to help the old lady clean the house. And it was agreed.
Many ppl told the young girl she shouldn't have done such a thing. She was a visitor to the country and there are associations that can help this couple. But she had promised. And she felt it was Divine Appointment that led her to this old woman.
The next day she knocked on the door... the old man answered. When the old lady came, she looked puzzled and confused. The young girl got worried... maybe this really is a bad idea. But the old lady then remembered... and invited her in.
The house was really in a mess... the carpets had not been hoovered for a long time and the kitchen was stacked with old newspapers. She was shocked at the state of the house. But nevertheless, she hoovered the house, cleaned the kitchen and washed the bathrooms. And then dust the living room. As she was dusting, the old lady came in to help her and they started talking.
The old lady is a christian and she was paying to God for strength because she was tired - emotionally and physically. And the young girl came along.
The young girl was feeling hopeless and asking God what is it that He would like her to do for Him... How can she be of service to His ministry. And the old lady came along.
They shared their faith and then prayed for each other. Both in tears praying how great God's grace is in their lives and blest each other in their faith.
Funny how sometimes God is calling us and yet we don't hear because we are so busy screaming at God to listen to us.
The ladies never saw each other after that. But I am sure it is an experience that has affected them tremendously.
